Ginseng Gold

6abc.comginseng.jpgA lumpy tan-colored root might not look like much — unless you know ginseng.Western Maryland ginseng hunter Roger Welch found the nearly one-pound wild root, which could be worth thousands of dollars. Experts say the ginseng will fetch a premium because it’s probably close to 100 years old. Ginseng’s supposed healthful properties are said to increase with the plant’s age. Welch says it’s the biggest root he’s found in 45 years of hobby ginseng hunting. He says he’ll probably give the money to his wife as a Christmas present.
