The would-be crook – who was caught on camera wearing his Barack Obama mask – eventually fled to his getaway car empty handed.
Jennifer Brown, (UK) aged 62, a grandmother, was thrilled to win second prize in a baking contest until she found that her cake was the only entry.
She was awarded second place for her Victoria Sponge in the competition, reports the Mirror.
She was intrigued to find out which cake had beaten her to the top spot and it was then that she discovered the truth.
Organizers had spotted her sponge had rack marks from where it had been in the oven and decided it wasn’t up to the standards demanded for first place.

A Chinese safari park has recruited three people to live with 48 tigers for 72 hours.
They have been given a 10 sq metre cage within the enclosure and will record every aspect of the tigers’ lives for three days.
Qu Hongtao, spokesman of Qinling Wild Animal Safari in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, said: “We want to celebrate the Year of the Tiger and also raise awareness of the need to protect wildlife.”
Men who are overweight have a higher chance of surviving a car crash if they’re wearing a safety belt, a University of Michigan study found.
The U-M Transportation Research Institute study found men who were overweight had a 22 percent lower chance of being killed in a fatal crash than men who are underweight.But the opposite was true if overweight weren’t buckled in. According to the study, men with a body mass index between 35 and 50 were 10 percent more likely to be killed in an auto accident.
A Springfield, Massachusetts, man who had shoplifted 75 bottles of body lotion, was caught by security guards because he had stuffed all 75 bottles in his pants and was so weighted down and awkward that he couldn’t even run. Police had to remove some of the bottles from his trousers before he could bend his knees enough to get in the police car

The bright red old phone booth was purchased for just 1 pound and remodeled as the smallest library in the world. Residents line up to swap their already read books for new ones left by other patrons. Over 100 books and a variety of movies and music CDs are available at this tiny library.
Ghost hunters (in Lincolshire, UK) say they have found evidence of spooks at Boston’s Swimming Pool.
Lincolnshire Paranormal Investigators spent a night at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex – and reckon they have discovered a monk-like male figure and a young girl haunting the halls.
The group – which included mediums and paranormal investigators – threw themselves in at the deep end, setting up cameras and sound equipment at the pool.
And they are so confident that what they found were ghosts that they are sending their evidence to TV program specializing in spectres.
