This school really does suck

A school in Uppsala is facing a 25,000 kronor compensation demand after a teacher attacked a child’s face with vacuum cleaner.

The Child and Pupil Ombudsman (BEO) is handling the case against the Grundsten school after the matter was reported in June. According to the report the pupil, who is in the intermediate level, was fooling around with a vacuum cleaner with which he was meant to be clearing up sawdust. The teacher saw red, slammed the pupil down on a table and began sucking his face and mouth with the vacuum cleaner.

Oops! Kazakhstan misspells ‘bank’ on money

The Kazakhstan central bank has misspelled the word “bank” on its new notes, officials said Wednesday. The bank plans to put the misprinted notes — worth 2,000 tenge ($15) and 5,000-tenge — into circulation in November and then gradually withdraw them to correct the spelling.

The move has drawn the ire of the Central Asian state’s politicians who urged the bank to abandon the notes altogether.

Stick-em-up! Or I’ll squirt ya!

wpistl.JPG A struggling Austrian toyshop owner was arrested after he tried to rob a bank with one of his toy guns. The 44-year-old, from Vienna, stormed into a local bank with a stocking over his head and a gun in his hand, and demanded clerks empty their tills.

But a security guard noticed the ‘weapon’ was a plastic water pistol and asked him to hand over the toy to avoid “an even bigger embarrassment”. The would-be robber told police: “I was driven to this desperate deed after my toy shop went bankrupt.”

She said Mr Wynn raised his hand then “at that moment, his elbow crashed backward right through the canvas. There was a terrible noise. Smack in the middle… was a black hole the size of a silver dollar. Look what Ive done, he said. Thank goodness it was me.”

Mr Wynn, who has retinitis pigmentosa, an eye disease affecting peripheral vision, plans to repair the coin-sized hole.
