A 10-year-old [Ueckermuende, Germany] boy drove [12 miles] in his stepfather’s car before abandoning it after a minor accident. The boy drove through several villages in the eastern German state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania before his journey abruptly ended when he drove down an embankment while trying to avoid an obstacle in the road.

The boy locked the car and fled into a wood to hide from police but was spotted by soldiers on manoeuvre and later taken home.

Police said it wasn’t the first time the youngster had taken his stepfather’s keys and driven off in his car. No action was expected to be taken against the youngster after the parents declined to press charges.
