Fight Against Maturity

A very sharp lady, that Agatha.

agatha-christie.jpgI have enjoyed greatly the second blooming that comes when you finish the life of the emotions and of personal relations; and suddenly find – at the age of fifty, say – that a whole new life has opened before you, filled with things you can think about, study, or read about…It is as if a fresh sap of ideas and thoughts was rising in you.

Do you get hazard pay to inspect water treatment plants?

iWon News
bobcat.jpg It’s best not to get between a predator and its prey – especially when they’re in the passenger seat of your golf cart. Water plant worker Mitch Walter [Missouri] would offer that bit of advice and bears the scratches of one who speaks from experience.

As Walter was inspecting the Cape Rock Water Treatment Plant property Tuesday night, a rabbit leaped into his golf cart – followed by a 25-pound bobcat. The rabbit then jumped back out, leaving Walter alone with a large, frightened feline.

“The cat went from a sleek predator after fast food to a ball of fur trying to jump through the windshield of the golf cart,” Walter said. Walter received scratches on his neck while shoving the bobcat out, necessitating a round of rabies shots, but was otherwise unhurt.

Thus illustrating the point of the demonstration

Telegraph
A farmer is recovering after falling down an open drain and injuring her ankle at a health and safety demonstration.

Tania Foster, 45, damaged her Achilles tendon when she stumbled down the hole at the event organised by the Health and Safety Executive. The mother-of-two, from Capenhurst, Cheshire, said: “It would be funny if it wasn’t so painful.”

Sand on the beach?? Shocking!

Ananova

beachatblackpool.jpg
A Blackpool pensioner has been threatened with legal action if he puts sand which blew into his garden back on the beach. Council officials threatened to prosecute Arthur Bulmer, 79, who lives opposite the beach in St Anne’s, Lancs, for fly-tipping. And if found guilty he could be fined £50,000 or even go to jail, reports the Mirror.

Storms left gardens, roads and footpaths in St Anne’s covered in tons of sand up to 20ft deep…The civic-minded pensioner said he was just trying to do what is right for the environment and save the council a job. He added: “Now I will have to use a specialist waste disposal firm and that will cost £500.”

Fylde borough council said: “The council has no responsibility to clear sand from private land, the owner must do this. However, dumping anything from your garden on to the beach constitutes fly-tipping.”

…………………………

From the looks of the image Mr. Bulmer has really been busy. There’s sand all over that beach.

And apparently showing a modicum of intelligence on the council constitutes malfeasance. It is, however, nice to know that not all the idiot politicians are in the States.

PS: Is “Fly-tipping” anything like cow tipping? Nah. Probably not.
