Fight Against Maturity

Scary cat, eh?

cat.jpg Canada’s postal system has stopped delivering mail to a home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a mail carrier was scared away by a “very threatening cat,” the Winnipeg Free Press said Friday.

A Canada Post spokeswoman said the agency was concerned about the safety of its carriers, although it hoped for an amicable solution to its dispute with cat-owner John Samborski.

“The letter carrier who delivers mail there … was brought up on a farm, she is very comfortable with animals,” spokeswoman Kathi Neal told the newspaper. “Apparently this is a very threatening cat.”

Had a neighbor once that had a big, nasty old tom cat that would climb up on the porch roof and lay in wait for the mailman, then drop down on his head and shoulders and attack.

  1. The mail carrier wouldn’t come to our house if she saw our black cat outside. Buddy would lurk in the bushes or behind the tree. Then he’d puff and arch, hiss and scramble after her. The mail carrier had to bring the mail to our neighbors house and we’d pick it up there. Funny thing was, he loved people and would allow children to pull his tail and carry him around upside down. He was normally very docile, except towards to mail lady!

  2. I have noticed that sometimes dogs, and cats too, seem to take an instant dislike to uniforms. I wonder if it could be the smell of the fabric. Cats and dogs do have a highly developed sense of smell.

    Thanks for the comment.
