A cat has succeeded in repressing her predatory instincts by adopting seven chicks to rear alongside her own litter of kittens. One-year-old Nimra, from Madaba in Jordan, has been watching over her unusual litter ever since the chicks’ mother died a month ago.

The mixed family, made up of her four newly born kittens and seven adopted chicks, lives in a cardboard box and has seemingly put its differences aside to eat, sleep and play together.

Two pensioners who won a £2.4m lottery jackpot have revealed they are to splash out – on new knees.

Tony and Greta Dodd both suffer from dodgy knees and were on the waiting list for NHS for replacements. But, on the back of their big win, they have now booked in for private operations next week, reports the Daily Mirror.

This crook has gone to the dogs

A prize-winning poodle from North Wales has become the latest victim of online identity theft.

Details of the two-year-old poodle, named Afonwen Welch Fusilier, were posted on the internet by proud owner Lynne Day who was keen to show off her dashing hound. But a crook pilfered the details from the site and is passing the dog off as his own, according the the North Wales Post.

He claims that Afonwen Welch Fusilier – pet name Blue – has given birth to puppies, despite the real dog being male. And the mystery man, who calls himself Henry Daf and whose registered address turns out to be a Glasgow graveyard, is touting the phantom pups to potential buyers for £1,000 each.
