Rex The Swan On Facebook

Sky News

A widowed swan has done what many lonely hearts do and turned to the internet to find love.

Rex the black-necked swan is mourning the loss of his “wife” Rexanne, who was killed by a fox. So in a bid to ease the swan’s pain, staff at his home at the Trevano Garden near Helston, Cornwall, hit the web to find Rex a new partner. The staff set up the Rex The Black-necked Swan Is Looking For Love group on the social networking site Facebook.

According to the BBC a man in India, suspected of swallowing a necklace valued at about $1200 vehemently denied that he had stolen it, let alone swallowed it. An X-ray revealed that he had indeed swallowed it and, on advice of a doctor he was compelled by police to eat 50 bananas as a laxative. When that failed to retrieve the necklace the cops then fed him a meal of chicken, rice and bread which produced the desired result  and the necklace was excreted and recovered.

Wonder who got to recover it…

Since his hobby is calligraphy, he has developed the ability to write Chinese characters with his tongue.

“I thought, since my tongue is very agile, why not let it write characters the way hands do? I want to develop my own special calligraphy,” he said.

Hello Kitty Kops

Police chiefs in Bangkok have come up with a new way of punishing officers who break the rules – an eye-catching Hello Kitty armband. The armband is large, bright pink and has a Hello Kitty motif with two hearts embroidered on it.

From today, officers who are late, park in the wrong place or commit other minor transgressions will have to wear it for several days, reports the BBC.

The armband is designed to shame the wearer, police officials said. “This is to help build discipline. We should not let small offences go unnoticed,” Police Colonel Pongpat Chayapan said.
