Fight Against Maturity

I wonder if this plane is on time?

The plane that never takes off

People are coming from all over India for a chance to give an entrepreneur two pounds to sit in an airplane that has one wing, no lighting and no working lavatories. Air conditioning is powered by a generator.

Passengers pay for a chance to listen to announcements, being waited on by flight attendants and hearing the “pilot” make announcements on the PA system…”We will soon be passing through a zone of turbulence” and “We are about to begin our descent into Delhi”.

About forty people show up every Saturday to line up and pay their two pounds for the chance to see a safety demonstration and watch unchanging scenery out the window.

Ninety nine percent of the population of India has never actually flown and these “virtual” flights are a big success.

“We are about to begin our descent into Delhi”. Right.
