Crime tip: When stealing a car check the back seat.

Diesel justice
A car thief drove off in a Toyota 4×4 – without seeing the enormous Great Dane-Alsatian cross in the back seat.

He failed to spot 11-month-old Diesel through the car’s steamed-up windows after Karen Griggs, 41, left the car with the keys in the ignition.

But he hit the brakes and fled after driving just 30 yards when [130 pound] Diesel woke up.

Karen’s husband Nick, 41, of Brixham, Devon, said: “Who needs a car alarm when you’ve got the Hound of the Baskervilles in your back seat?”

A Wolf walks into a bar, see, and…

Ananova

A wolf walked into a packed bar in Italy, ate a steak sandwich and walked out again.

The wolf strolled into the bar at Villetta Barrea, near to the Abruzzo national park, and helped itself to a steak sandwich from a table. Bar owner Giacinto Lorenzo, 43, said: “It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but it really happened. Everyone here knows what a wolf looks like and there was no mistaking this beast for a big dog. It was one of the wolves from the national park. It looked pretty thin and we guess it must have been suffering with the recent cold weather and the snow.”

Mermaids in Tampa

tampabays10.com

Mermaids have mesmerized tourists at Weeki Wachee Springs for sixty years. And now, those females with tails could soon be on the state payroll.

The Department of Environmental Protection and the attraction are in serious discussions about turning Weeki Wachee Springs into a State Park. On Tuesday, the Florida cabinet was briefed on a letter of intent which outlines the potential takeover. But attraction marketing director John Athanason says there’s still a lot of work to do. “It’s far from a done deal,” Athanason said. “We now need to hash out a lot of the details.”
