Creepy Gnome creeps around Argentinian town…but I think it’s a prank.

There’s more at Creepy Gnome

A town in South America is living in fear after several sightings of a ‘creepy gnome’ that locals claim stalks the streets at night. The midget – which wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk – was caught on video last week by a terrified group of youngsters.

Teenager Jose Alvarez – who filmed the gnome – yesterday told national newspaper El Tribuno that they caught the creature while larking about in their hometown of General Guemes, in the province of Salta, Argentina.

More at Reuters

A Finnish library-goer apparently thought ‘better late than never’ and quietly returned a book on loan for more than 100 years to a library in Vantaa, in southern Finland. The library had long since lost track of the loan but welcomed back to its collections the bound copy of a 1902 volume of Vartija, an active religious monthly periodical at the time.

“We are unclear when exactly it was borrowed and who returned it. There weren’t any documents with it,” librarian Minna Saastamoinen told Reuters.

No bones about it

skeleton on plane

A woman was stopped at Munich airport after baggage control handlers found the skeleton of her brother sealed in a plastic bag in her luggage, police said Wednesday.

The 62-year-old woman and her 63-year-old friend, who both live in Italy, were hauled in by airport police Tuesday after a scan of the bag showed a human skull and other bones. The women were traveling to Italy from Brazil. It turned out, however, that the woman was simply trying to fulfill the last wish of her brother — who died 11 years ago in Sao Paulo, Brazil — to be buried in Italy.

……………………..

Turns out that she was legally transporting the bones, had documents and all, and they let her proceed.

Too many jail birds for this Australian police station

Jail birds

birds.jpg An influx of jail birds has forced Australian police to temporarily close a country police station and courthouse. The problem has been caused by large numbers of wild pigeons nesting in the town of Murray Bridge, about 100 km east of the South Australian state capital of Adelaide.

Bigfoot?

Shoes too big

A Romanian man lodged an official complaint after claiming a coffin he bought for a deceased relative was too small. The man, from Piatra Neamt, complained he couldn’t close the coffin’s lid because the dead man’s shoes were too big.

The man, who has not been named by local media, said: “It was a real shock for me and my family when, in front of all the mourners, we could not close the coffin because the shoes wouldn’t fit. We couldn’t bury our relative bare-footed so we had to try harder but you can imagine how embarrassing and disrespectful that felt.”

Zapper boy

More

A US schoolboy has been dubbed Magneto because of his talent for crashing computers. Joseph Falciatano, a 12-year-old from New York state, continuously causes his school’s computers to stop working.

Experts are baffled as to why the youngster has the bizarre power but believe it is down to the amount of static electricity he produces. His school has put a grounding pad under Joe and gave him an anti-static wrist-strap.
