Crime tip: When stealing a car be sure you don’t get locked inside

Iowa Wire

A Waterloo [Iowa] man has been charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a truck and getting locked inside.

Cash Burch, 24, was arrested Wednesday after the owner of a Ford Explorer found him inside his vehicle and called police.

The owner, Mark Laures, says Burch could not get out because the Explorer has an anti-theft device that activates when the battery loses power. Laures says Burch wore down the battery trying to start the Explorer and became locked inside.

When the police arrived they kindly unlocked the door from the outside…then arrested him.
