This moose had a really bad day

Lake Placid News

A moose was killed after being struck by three vehicles on state Route 3 in Vermontville Friday.

Lowville resident Cynthia Ramsay, 48, was driving eastbound on Sugarbush Hill at about 9 p.m. when she struck the animal with her Nissan Sentra, state police in Ray Brook said.

The two-year-old moose, estimated to be 500 to 600 pounds, fell onto the hood and eventually landed in the westbound lane, where it was struck again.

This time it was hit by a Chevrolet van from Sunmount in Tupper Lake driven by 38-year-old Morris Wells.

Motorcyclist Mark Trudeau, 23, of Saranac Lake, was the third driver to hit the moose.

Be on the lookout for three little pigs with a brick house

A Russian man returned from holiday to find his entire two-storey house had been stolen by a neighbour.

Yuri Konstantinov, 50, from the Astrakhan Region, came back from a trip visiting relatives to find his house had been taken down brick by brick and all the contents sold. Only the foundations were left.

Police investigating the theft found out that a neighbour had taken the house apart and sold everything, including the bricks and window frames, and even the kitchen sink.

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…a priest??

A priest who took off with hundreds of helium-filled party balloons has gone missing off Brazil…Rev Adelir Antonio de Carli took off from Paranagua, wearing a helmet, thermal suit and a parachute. He was reported missing eight hours later.

The 41-year-old priest wanted to break a 19-hour record for the longest period aloft with balloons, to raise money for a spiritual rest-stop for truckers…

Denise Gallas, treasurer of Sao Cristovao parish, said he priest soared to an altitude of 20,000 feet then descended to about 8,200 feet for his planned flight to the city of Dourados, 465 miles north west of his parish. But winds pushed him in another direction, and the priest was about 30 miles off the coast when he last contacted Paranagua’s port authority, she said.

He had a GPS device, a satellite phone, a buoyant chair and is an experienced skydiver.

“We are absolutely confident he will be found alive and well, floating somewhere in the ocean,” she said.

……………………………..

The search is concentrated off the coast of Santa Catarina.

Can’t cross over the bridge? Then cross under it.

More at El Paso Times

A 5-by-5-foot trolley resembling those used by mechanics to slide under cars was put to a very different use over the weekend. Border Patrol agents spotted it resting between two support beams in the underbelly of the Bridge of the Americas during a routine check Sunday afternoon.

It was being used like a rail cart to carry undocumented immigrants from the Mexican side of the bridge to the U.S. side, about 30 feet up in the air.
