Little green aliens and UFOs

Aliens from outer space have been visiting Britain for years and UFO sightings doubled after the film Close Encounters was released in 1977, according to secret files collating reports by members of the public.

The alien craft come in all shapes, sizes and colours but their occupants are uniformly green, the Ministry of Defence files show.

The archives…are the first batch of a four-year release programme of all the ministry’s UFO files from 1978 to the present day.

The ministry dismisses 90 percent of the reports as having mundane explanations and leave 10 percent with a question mark and the assurance they are no defence threat.

Cow 1, Car 0 (or) A really mooooving experience

A cow was left unhurt in Switzerland after a head-on collision with a car which left the vehicle destroyed. The animal rolled on to the bonnet of the car and was catapulted over the roof but then immediately got to its feet.

Felix Reimann said the car had been completely destroyed and he was left with cuts and bruises after the accident on a country road in Unterschlatt.

But a vet called out after the accident that examined the cow said it was completely unharmed, and took it back to its owner.

Pistols don’t make good back scratchers

A Fort Worth man trying to scratch an itch on his back used a revolver and accidentally shot himself.

Jorge Espinal, 44, was drinking beer and playing poker around 3 a.m. Sunday morning in his home in the 3500 block of Montague Street, when he got up from the table and walked into another room, said Fort Worth police Lt. Kenneth Dean.

“He told officers he had an itch on his back and grabbed the first thing he could get a hold of, which was a revolver,” Lt. Dean said. “The gun went off.”

This one deserves a whole new category: Really dumb crook

A man trying to pluck a parakeet nest from the top of a power station was shocked by a live wire and received several burns Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Cameron Fritzson, 20, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, then Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami with second- and third-degree burns to his upper extremities, police said. He was listed in critical, but stable condition later Monday night.

Fritzon climbed a 10-foot fence surrounding a Florida Power & Light substation near Sheridan Street and University Drive shortly before 4 p.m, police said.

Authorities say he then tried to scale the electrical tower where his arm brushed against a transformer. He fell 20 feet. Police believe Fritzon may have been trying to collect the parakeet eggs to sell at a pet store.

Remember the tar baby?

Firefighters in China found themselves in a sticky situation – after an accident involving a lorry load of glue.

A truck fully loaded with buckets of construction glue crashed into a bus in Chengdu city, reports West China City News. The driver and a passenger escaped with only minor injuries – but the entire load of glue spilled on to the road.

Firefighters tried to use water guns to dilute the glue but without success. And the glue was so sticky that their spades and brooms were soon stuck to the ground.

“It’s too sticky. And the chemical smell is very strong,” said the chief of 11th branch of the local firefighting department.

Things went from bad to worse when some of the growing crowd of onlookers slipped into the pool of glue and also got stuck.

Firefighters eventually managed to clean up the street and dissolve the sticky mess by using special chemicals.

Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a… boat?

Two golfers yesterday watched open-mouthed as a speedboat flew 100ft through the air in front of them and landed in a greenside bunker.

French tourists Claude Bieth and Catherine Guillet were playing the sixth at the famous Loch Lomond course when the boat hurtled out of the water and took off.

Claude, 62, said: “It clipped the sand and flew about 30 yards through the air. The boat seemed to go in slow motion and came to a halt in a bunker. The motor kept going but it was stuck fast.”

The boat’s driver managed to jump to safety before it hit the shore.
