A US newspaper has made one of the most embarrassing typographical errors in media history. New Hampshire’s Valley News spelled its own name incorrectly – in the masthead on the front page.

This Monday readers were surprised to see the paper’s name spelled “Valley Newss”.

The newspaper, which covers the Upper Valley area straddling New Hampshire and Vermont, published an “Editor’s Note” acknowledging the error the following day.

Gambling addicts have got a new sport to bet on – which egg will hatch fastest. Eggycam, a live video feed showing ten eggs in an incubator, is a new website aimed at raising money for charity.

“It’s a bit of fun and bets are not at the mercy of bad weather or human error,” Ken Robertson from Paddy Power told Metro newspaper. “Punters simply put their money down and let nature take its course.”

Apparently being dead is no excuse

An elderly man was found dead late Tuesday in a parked car that had been ticketed earlier in the day on a street in an unincorporated industrial area near Pico Rivera.

A passerby noticed the man in the driver’s seat of the black Lincoln Town Car near Peck and Rooks roads about 7:50 p.m. and notified employees at a nearby truck shop.
