A German teenager will stand trial on Monday for causing €100,000 in damage after he flooded a Düsseldorf arena with beer.

The now 15-year-old allegedly broke into the LTU Arena with a friend and opened three taps in the VIP seating area in October 2006, when he was just 13-years-old.

Some 1,400 litres of pilsner soaked through several layers of the stadium and through a conference room until it reached the parking garage, causing extensive damage, LTU Arena spokesperson Rainer Schüler told The Local on Monday.

“The stench was overwhelming and it took a year before we were able to use the conference room again,” Schüler said, adding that the boys were easily found thanks to clear images on surveillance videos.

Have your chocolates been tasting funny lately?

Hallucinogenic chocolates

Police closed down a Berlin sweet shop after discovering the owner was selling chocolates and lollipops laced with hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana.

The 23-year old owner of the shop in the trendy east Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg, an area known for its vibrant night life, was taken into custody on suspicion of drug-dealing.

“In the shop we found 120 pieces of magic mushroom chocolate and countless cannabis lollipops,” said police, who confiscated around 70 sachets containing various drugs, about 20 marijuana joints, a range of pills and some jars of drug-laced honey.

Slow news day: Toilet-paper research

3-ply tissue

If two-ply toilet paper is good, then three-ply tissue must be better. At least that’s what toilet-paper researchers in northeastern Wisconsin hope.

Yes, there is such a thing as a toilet-paper researcher. And a team of them at Georgia Pacific’s Innovation Institute in Neenah has come up with a three-ply version…

……………………………

Doesn’t seem like too much of an intellectual exercise but then I’m not a toilet paper researcher so what do I know.
