The Mad Plaiter strikes again!

A police force is consulting a warlock to try and unravel a spate of mysterious incidents of horses having their manes plaited.

Owners in west Dorset and the surrounding counties had believed that thieves plaited the manes of the horses to identify which ones to steal when they returned at night.

But police officers investigating the incidents said there had been no thefts, and instead their enquiries led to the world of pagan ritual.

Perhaps this “academic” needs a heavier class load

Children’s favourite Thomas the Tank Engine has been attacked by a Canadian academic for being sexist.

Shauna Wilton, a professor of political sciences at the University of Alberta, also highlighted the class divide which sees Thomas and his friends at the bottom of the social ladder and the wealthy Fat Controller at the top.

She launched her study after watching the animated programme, which is shown in over 130 countries, with her three-year-old daughter.

I wonder if she missed the irony in her comment:

“The female characters weren’t necessarily portrayed any more negatively than the male characters or the male trains, but they did tend to play more secondary roles and they’re often portrayed as being bossy or know-it-alls,” she said.

(My emphasis.)

Would you sell these for me, please? There’s a nice boy…

The Hillsborough County [New Hampshire] sheriff said a court bailiff sold stolen Christmas wreaths in the lobby of the Superior Court in Manchester.

Sheriff James Hardy said the bailiff sold the wreaths after being asked to do so by an elderly woman who told the bailiff she had made them.

But the New Hampshire Union Leader said it turns out the wreaths were among about 36 stolen from Jacques Flower Shop in Goffstown last week.
