Maybe a dog’s life isn’t so bad after all

A Californian dog lover has built a [ $20,000 ] mansion with its own garden and picket fence for her pampered pooches.

Modelled on owner Tammy Kassis’s own home, it boasts a television, vaulted ceilings and air conditioning plus wallpaper and hand-made curtains.

Her three dogs, Darla, Chelsea and Coco Puff, even have their own designer doggy beds if they don’t fancy the lawn.

Tammy, 47, said: “My dogs are my life.”

$150K salamander crossing…your tax dollars at work

Future generations of salamanders in one Vermont town are going to be getting some help crossing the road.

The Monkton Conservation Commission says it has won a $150,000 state grant to install one or two culverts under a stretch of road to protect salamanders, other amphibians, reptiles and small mammals crossing between a swampy area and the uplands.

What do you mean “It’s snowing”???

It is snowing in North Central Washington, and in the Cascade Mountains to the west of us (where the above picture was taken in Stevens Pass by a DOT camera) , and has been for the past two hours now—wet nasty stuff that is just now beginning to stick to the grass. Supposedly we will be getting an inch or two here but the 4061 foot  Stevens Pass, 60 miles west of us, is due for one to two feet of new snow. Just over a month ago (February 28th) I posted the below picture which I took in the front yard:

Just think what it might be like if it wasn’t for global warming.
