That’s gotta hurt

A woman returned to her Cumbrian home to find a near perfect imprint of an owl on her window. The bird had apparently crashed into the window of Sally Arnold’s Kendal home, leaving the bizarre image – complete with eyes, beak and feathers.

“Knock, knock.” “Who’s there?” “Turkey”

Wild Turkey Meleagris gallopavo at Cincinnati Zoo

They’re out there, blocking traffic, invading front porches, hiking the banks of the South Platte and the Poudre rivers in Greeley.

Wild turkeys. Maybe wild and crazy turkeys, judging from their recent behavior.

Early Wednesday morning, two turkeys stopped traffic along 5th Street in east Greeley, challenging the drivers and sometimes block-

ing the road as people drove to work.

In addition to stopping traffic, the turkeys are getting more bold. Recently, one east Greeley family reported a turkey knocking on their front door. They called animal control officers.

How do you smoke bird brains?

One of Africa’s largest birds of prey is being threatened by gamblers who believe smoking its brains gives them powers to predict World Cup results.

Mark Anderson, of BirdLife South Africa, said he feared that belief in ‘muti’ magic would accelerate the decline in rare Cape vultures, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Well, it was a nice trip anyway.

As a keen birdwatcher, Janet Davies thought nothing of travelling 1,000 miles to Norway to try and catch a glimpse of a rare snow bunting.

Unfortunately, however, the bird proved elusive during her trip, and Mrs Davies returned home – where she has found one sitting on her garden fence.

Elvis, the parrot terrorist

More at Metro.co.uk

He is not even human but Elvis ruffles so many feathers he is being threatened with an Asbo.

Elvis the parrot has been accused of dive-bombing people and wrecking street lights when owner Edward Pikul lets him out.

“He is a lovely pet and would never harm anybody. If I had to imprison him in his cage, I would rather get rid of him,” said 49-year-old Mr Pikul. “It’s true Elvis has a mischievous streak, he knows a few swear words and his shriek is quite loud but hes an absolute joy to have.”

But one resident complained: “The bird is a nuisance. Just because he likes the parrot doesnt mean he should terrorise the whole village with it.”

Since Mr Pikul got Elvis seven years ago, the macaw has become a regular sight in Wilsden, West Yorkshire.
