Fight Against Maturity

Look, Ma! I even got to have my picture taken!

When a police officer is giving you a courtesy ride home after an accident it is best not to pop open a beer in the back seat of the patrol car… unless you want your picture taken , of course.

Old beer’s secret…follow the link below

A Scottish brewery claims to have produced the first authentic India pale ale (IPA) in almost 200 years by ageing the beer aboard a trawler in the North Sea.

BrewDog, a Scottish micro-brewery based in Fraserburgh, has used an original recipe to produce the ale, which was traditionally matured during the 100-day sea journey from Britain to India.

While many brewers still produce IPA on land, BrewDog’s owners James Watt and Martin Dickie decided to make the beer the old-fashioned way.

The pair prepared eight oak barrels which spent seven-and-a-half weeks aboard the Ocean Quest, a mackerel trawler captained by Watt, who is also a fisherman.

Mac and Brew, Please.

Weary world travellers will soon be able to wash down their Big Mac with a strong beer following a court decision to grant fast-food chain McDonald’s an alcohol licence for its Stockholm Arlanda restaurant, reports Christian website Dagen.

The McDonald’s restaurant at Stockholm Arlanda Airport finally secured approval for its application for an alcohol licence on Thursday when an appeals court (Kammarrätten) overturned previous rejections from both Sigtuna council and the county administrative court.

Both the council and the county court had ruled that as a family-orientated fast-food restaurant McDonald’s was not a suitable place for strong beer to be sold.

Going green

A survey done a couple of years ago found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year and that the per capita annual consumption of beer is about 22 gallons. The natural conclusion (well, sorta) is that Americans get 41 MPG.

See that video camera? It’s watching you.

A German teenager will stand trial on Monday for causing €100,000 in damage after he flooded a Düsseldorf arena with beer.

The now 15-year-old allegedly broke into the LTU Arena with a friend and opened three taps in the VIP seating area in October 2006, when he was just 13-years-old.

Some 1,400 litres of pilsner soaked through several layers of the stadium and through a conference room until it reached the parking garage, causing extensive damage, LTU Arena spokesperson Rainer Schüler told The Local on Monday.

“The stench was overwhelming and it took a year before we were able to use the conference room again,” Schüler said, adding that the boys were easily found thanks to clear images on surveillance videos.

More at Frozen beer on a stick

If you like ice cold beer in the summer time then you will love this new frozen treat. A restaurant in the US has just been granted permission to sell frozen beer on a stick.

The summer-time favourite was invented by Chef, Frank Morales, at the Rustico Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia, when he accidently froze his cherry-flavoured beer in the freezer and soon realised it was a tasty treat.

You’ve heard of Swan Lake. How about Beer Lake?

Metro.co.uk

Police in southern Germany say that 200 crates of beer spilled from delivery truck and formed a slippery beer puddle that disrupted traffic for over an hour – but caused no injuries.

Munich police say the truck was transporting the beer from the Bavarian capital to a neighboring town Monday evening when siding on the truck’s trailers broke.

Bottles crashed onto the highway flooding it with foamy wheat beer and disrupting traffic for 90 minutes.

A six-pack of beer seldom makes you smarter.

This is the heart-stopping moment a photographer leapt between two rocky outcrops over the Grand Canyon.

A crowd of onlookers gasped as the man – wearing just a pair of flipflops – risked serious injury to capture a stunning shot of the Arizona sunset.

Just minutes earlier the unknown man had been sunbathing on a rock column and even downed a six-pack of beer. He then tucked his camera and tripod under his arm and leapt across the 8ft gap – grasping hold of the opposing rock face with just one hand.
