“It’s raining fish!” No word on whether it was a Friday.

Residents of a remote Australian desert town were shocked by a turn in the weather – when fish rained from the sky. Hundreds of small white fish, many still alive, fell over two days on Lajamanu in the Northern Territory, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Weather experts believe the fish, spangled perch, were sucked up in a thunderstorm before being dumped over the tiny town which is 326 miles from the nearest river…

It is the third time in less than 30 years that Lajamanu has been bombarded by falling fish, according to Northern Territory News, after reports of the phenomenon in 1974 and 2004.

Bottle fed Koi?

These Koi Carp are more at home with a baby’s bottle than a sprinkling of fish food in their tank. The fish have been brought up on a diet of powdered milk by their owner in an effort to keep them strong.

Ding Feng, 47, owns the Hanzhou Aquarium in eastern China and he’s focused on making sure his fish grow quickly so they are worth more to customers.

Koi Carp that are the right colours can end up selling for more than £10,000 in the country.

New meaning for “fishing hole”

The old fishing hole

The old fishing hole

A Chinese farmer dug a 50ft hole inside his house to go fishing. Li Huiyan, of Chongqing, hired 30 villagers for six months to dig the hole in his kitchen, reports IC Media.

He wanted to reach an underground river which he suspected was full of fish.

The river had been over ground but had disappeared 30 years ago when the local authorities bombed part of a mountain to pave a road.

Li explained: “The river used to have so many fish, and by simply putting a net there, hundreds of fish would be caught.”

After digging his pit down to the river, Li installed a fishing net across it and regularly hauls out fish, so far earning his family nearly £2,000.

Gee, I hope they publish the recipe…

Nuns who own a New York City apartment house have filed a lawsuit saying a tenant couple is stinking up the building with “horrible” food smells “similar to that of vomit or rotten meat.” The lawsuit by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart Inc. says Gloria and Michael Lim are causing “foul and harmful odors” to come from their 16th floor apartment by cooking and smoking large quantities of fish.

Court papers said one tenant thought a dead body was decomposing in the East 19th Street apartment and called the Fire Department.
