The teaspoon as a deadly weapon

A British market is apologizing to a woman after she was carded for trying to buy a packet of teaspoons.

The Daily Mail reports that a Tesco employee in Evesham, Worcestershire asked Emma Sheppard, 21, to show her ID as she was checking out with a packet of five teaspoons on Monday. Tesco recently implemented a “Think 25” campaign, which asks customers to show their ID when buying certain items if they look under 25.

“When the assistant asked me for ID, I thought [my husband] John had sneakily put some booze in the trolley, but then when she held up a pack of spoons, we looked at her like she was an idiot,” Sheppard said.

Bouncers don’t have to be bright…

More at “Wash. gov; she lacked ID”

Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire is taking it as a compliment: She was turned away from a bar in the state capital because she couldn’t prove she’s of legal age to drink.

The 61-year-old governor and her staff had served burgers at the annual Capital Lakefair last weekend and afterward went to a downtown Olympia bar called Hannah’s to celebrate.

Gregoire says the man checking identifications at the door told her she couldn’t get in without ID, even when others pointed out she’s Washington’s governor. So she went home, but her husband, Mike, went in.
