Acid-spitting, lightning throwing Mongolian death worm…no, seriously

Armed with explosives, two men are heading to Mongolia’s Gobi Desert to find the fabled acid-spitting and lightning-throwing Mongolian death worm.

The worm has never been documented but some Mongolians are convinced it exists. They call it Allghoi Khorkhoi, or “intestine worm” because it resembles a cow’s intestine and is about 1.5m long.

The worm apparently jumps out of the sand and kills people by spitting concentrated acid or shooting lightning from its rectum over long distances, NZPA reports. (Seriously.)

More at   The Courier-Mail.

They sort of lost me after the “lightning from its rectum”  part…

Lightning is a cure for arrhythmia?

Picture 14A Serbian woman has been cured of a deadly heart condition – when she was struck by lightning.

Shocked doctors who’d been treating Nada Acimovich, 51, for arrhythmia – irregular heartbeats that can be a killer – discovered she had made a complete recovery.

The doctors were “shocked”? I bet she was too.

Divine lightning reaction?

A Chinese man who swore to God that he didn’t owe money to a neighbour was hit by lightning a minute later.

The man, named Xu, made the oath in front of a crowd of neighbours in Fuqing city, reports Southeast Express. He vowed that he had never borrowed money from Mr Huang, who claimed Xu borrowed 500 yuan, the equivalent of £40, from him three years earlier.

“He borrowed 500 yuan three years ago from me for a friend’s marriage gift, but he has denied it ever since then,” said Huang, who went to Xu’s home to demand payment. “I told him that if he dared to swear to God that he didn’t owe me the money, then I would waive his debt,” said Huang.

Xu made the oath, but was suddenly struck by lightning a minute later.

Want to see what Superman really looks like?

Meet Kent Lilyerd, a man who has survived a lightning strike to the back of his head, “”a man who once struggled for two hours to climb out of a hole in a frozen lake, a man who six times survived electrical shock while welding, a man who was once accidentally shot in the forehead and chest by friends while duck hunting.”

Lots more at this link.

Sound sleeper: Boy, 3, sleeps through lightning strike

A three-year-old Welsh boy slept through a lightning strike which blew a hole in his bedroom wall. Elis Roberts’s parents found him fast asleep in his room, which was covered in masonry, plaster and dust, reports the BBC.

The lightning blew all the light bulbs and electrical equipment in the house and neighbouring homes as storms hit Flint, north Wales.
