A Chinese safari park has recruited three people to live with 48 tigers for 72 hours.

They have been given a 10 sq metre cage within the enclosure and will record every aspect of the tigers’ lives for three days.

Qu Hongtao, spokesman of Qinling Wild Animal Safari in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, said: “We want to celebrate the Year of the Tiger and also raise awareness of the need to protect wildlife.”

Wanted: Assistant to insert contact lenses in tiger’s eyes

A German company is making contact lenses for animals, including lions, giraffes, tigers and bears, with cataracts.

S & V Technologies, founded by Bavarian chemist Christine Kreiner, created the acrylic intraocular lenses which are custom made to fit each animal.

Devon Zoo Sumatran tiger cubs debut

Poking their noses warily around the corner, they hesitated for a moment. What was this strange new place?

And no wonder they were wary, because for these Sumatran tiger cubs, this was their first taste of the outside world.

Since their birth two months earlier, they had been cooped up inside because of the cold.
